Interior design of 160m² apartment"
Project description
This 160 m² apartment on the top floor of a Haussmann building was redesigned for a modern, dynamic couple who wished to have a comfortable, contemporary space to retreat to, while also being able to host gatherings.
While retaining the Haussmann architectural codes, the design approach was to open up the space in order to play with the light flowing through and with strong contrasts brought by bold colours, raw materials and contemporary works of art.
The renovation room by room
The entrance hall
The entrance sets the tone: a dynamic, bold colour and XXL decorative pieces contrast with the classicism of the mouldings and the herringbone parquet of the apartment. The raw metal of the console table, the industrial style of the light fitting and the detail of the leather handles speak to the owners' passion for noble materials and craftsmanship.
The large living room
This space designed for entertaining is treated in a more restrained and pared-back manner. The highly architectural light fittings and XXL sofas are complemented by soothing light grey walls. A photographic work by Alix Delmas brings nature indoors and creates a connection with the planted balcony designed by a landscape architect.
The TV lounge and library
Opposite the reception area is the TV lounge, designed in a more intimate and warm manner. It is fully wired for sound, and the sofas are upholstered in a midnight blue velvet that accentuates the cocoon-like feel desired by the owners. The wall colour creates a visual link between the different spaces.
The dining room
Here, walls were opened up to improve both physical and visual flow. Industrial and Directoire styles are reinterpreted. Materials (concrete, smoked chrome on the chairs and copper blown glass on the pendant lights) are blended and harmonised to give this dining space its full boldness and elegance.
The corridor
The corridor leading to the bedrooms and guest bathroom is treated as a trompe l'oeil. An XL mirror creates a sense of infinite perspective and accentuates the feeling of length. Behind it hides a secret door leading to the owner's study.
